Here at The Birthing Room we love informed choice! In NZ you can CHOOSE where to give birth, and we have great options. Did you know studies of home birth show great outcomes? These 2 studies show low rates of adverse outcomes & intervention, and high rates of good health, breastfeeding & mother satisfaction with care. The researchers concluded this should add confidence to the safety of home birth.

Prolapse Part II…
Have you done the most important thing to prevent prolapse today? THIS IS SOMETHING ALL WOMEN SHOULD BE DOING! Pelvic Floor Exercises strengthen the group of muscles that make up the pelvic floor, improving continence & reducing your risk of vaginal prolapse. Being aware of your pelvic floor muscles also helps you know which muscles to ‘let go’ of during childbirth, as you imagine your body opening to welcome your baby into the world.

Lotus Birth – Part 2
So HOW do you do it?! Sarah Buckley enlightens us on the details 😀 Love to hear from anyone who knows someone who has had a lotus birth, or have done it themselves. What was your experience like?
Lotus Birth
We are excited to bring you a two part series. Tonight, the story of a mother who has done it. Tomorrow, we’ll look at how to do a Lotus Birth yourself. (NB, there appears to be minimal research on the benefits/negatives of Lotus Birth, but I certainly couldn’t find any evidence for why it’s not a valid option. The most important thing is to have delayed cord clamping, and then Lotus Birth may interest many of you on top of that).
