Are you going to have your other children present for the birth? We look at Part II of ‘How to help your children prepare for the new arrival’. Great tips in this article!
How do you prepare your other children for the arrival of a new baby? Will you have them at the birth, or have them looked after by someone? How will they adjust to being a big sister or brother? This is the first of a 2 part series on ‘How to help your children prepare for the new arrival’… Did you do any of the things in this article? http://codenamemama.com/2011/09/25/prepare-children-childbirth/
How do you keep your kids well? Raised antibody levels do not determine if your child gets the bug or not; ‘IMMUNITY’ has to do with the strength of the ‘IMMUNE SYSTEM’! This is strengthened by breastfeeding, exercise, eating healthy food, receiving and giving love etc. What things do you do to help your children stay well & healthy?
What if your birth DOESN’T go as planned…?! Find out at The Birthing Room’s November ‘Doco & Discussion Night’. Movie= A Breech in the System. Guest speakers Megan Platt & Rosemary Joyce, who will be sharing how they made informed choices regarding the births of their breech babies.

“A shocking 24% of women who had had instrumental births said they had not consented to the procedure.” I had an un-consented episiotomy with my 3rd baby (it’s important to note that none of the doulas, midwives, or registrar who were all amazing & supportive saw the scissor welding OB appear out of nowhere…). Yes it was necessary, but would it have really changed the outcome taking 2 sec to say “This needs to happen, ok?”… physically no, but emotionally yes! What helped you feel respected during your birth?
“A woman will remember how she was MADE to feel during her birth for the rest of her life.” (The Business of Being Born). Sam from Joyful Childbirth writes on the violence women experience during birth… http://mumanu.wordpress.com/2013/02/14/violence-against-pregnant-and-labouring-women/
Have you experienced BIRTH VIOLENCE? This is an amazing story about a young Mum who overcomes birth violence, postnatal depression, negative attitudes & treatment in her bid to breastfeed her baby. Read on! http://www.thealphaparent.com/2013/10/triumphant-tuesday-breastfeeding-with_29.html
BirthWorks November Classes began today with a stroll through the ‘Contemplative garden’. AMAZING parents, amazing venue, and amazing to begin the journey of healing and working towards positive birth experiences. The day ended with a great walk around the quarry with my family (baby in the Hop-Tie & toddler on the shoulders!) hunting for wolves & bears. All-in-all a wonderful day.
